Kia has unveiled its new compact electric crossover, the Kia EV3. This is the production version of the EV3 Concept presented last year at Kia EV Day.
The new Kia EV3, built on the E-GMP electric platform, is Kia's smallest production electric car to date. Its body length is 4300 mm, width - 1850 mm, and height - 1560 mm.
The EV3's design was inspired by the flagship EV9, featuring the signature 'tiger face' at the front and slim LED headlights. The car will be available in a total of nine exterior colors, including four exclusive shades.
The interior of the car will feature a wide panel with a diagonal of almost 30 inches, divided into a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 5-inch screen for climate control and a 12.3-inch infotainment system display. The model's options list includes cruise control, a navigation system, an advanced driver assistance system, a digital key, the new i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking technology and the Kia AI Assistant based on artificial intelligence.
The new Kia electric car will be offered with a choice of two batteries with a capacity of 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh. In the basic version, the car will receive a 204 hp electric motor mounted on the front axle, which will allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The maximum speed will be limited to 170 km/h. The range of the long-range version of the Kia EV3 with an increased capacity battery will be 600 km according to the WLTP cycle.
The Kia EV3 will be launched in its home South Korean market in July 2024. In the second half of the year, the car will appear in Europe, and then in other regions of the Korean brand’s presence. Prices and configurations will be announced closer to the start of sales.
