Kia recalls about 63,000 EV6 electric vehicles

Kia recalls about 63,000 EV6 electric vehicles due to charging issues.
Kia has announced a recall of 62,872 EV6 electric crossovers manufactured between November 2021 and July 2024. The reason is possible damage to the charge control unit (ICCU) due to voltage surges and thermal stress.
A faulty ICCU may not charge the 12-volt battery, which leads to a gradual loss of power in the car. This increases the risk of accidents in heavy traffic.

The manufacturer will offer two solutions: either replacing the ICCU if damage is detected, or updating the software to optimize voltage and temperature management.
Owners of affected vehicles will receive notifications from December 13, 2024. Kia is already working on fixing the problem in new models and is including updates in 2025 vehicles.
Kia has issued a recall for approximately 63,000 EV6 electric vehicles from model years 2022 to 2024 due to an issue with the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The problem involves the ICCU potentially failing to properly charge the 12-volt battery, which could lead to a gradual loss of power and, in severe cases, complete stalling while driving. This is attributed to damage caused by short bursts of high voltage during normal operations.
The recall includes a software update to reduce the risk of over-current and a voltage peak at the end of charging. In some cases, dealers may also replace ICCU components and fuses. The recall aims to address concerns raised by owners and regulators after complaints and investigations into power loss incidents began in 2023. Kia is notifying affected owners, and repairs, including software updates, will be provided at no cost.
If you own a Kia EV6, it is advised to check if your vehicle is affected by contacting your dealer or using Kia's online VIN recall tool.

Kia Rio has been put to the test

Kia Rio has been put to the test; ZR listed its drawbacks.
A Za Rulem magazine expert discussed the shortcomings of the Kia Rio from 2011 to 2017. This vehicle has long held the top spot in its class. Professional counsel is more important than ever because they are actively purchasing it both now and on the secondary market.
This car's biggest drawback is its engines, which have a tendency to scuff in the cylinders. Untimely oil changes or ceramic chip fragments from the converter are the causes of this issue. Furthermore, replacing the oil prematurely "helps."
Both manual and automated gears have shown to be very reliable. All you have to do is replace the oil on schedule. Only vehicles with a lot of miles on them can develop suspension issues.
The Kia Rio is still a very good, well-balanced vehicle for the money, as the ZR expert points out. While there are drawbacks, they have all been thoroughly researched. And there are just as many benefits.
