The Volvo XC90 has always been an icon of the brand, but with new updates it has become even better. The updated SUV combines modern technology, premium comfort and advanced features. Now the XC90 is available with an updated exterior design and an improved interior, including a new 11.2-inch central display with a higher resolution.
The new XC90 in a hybrid version can travel more than 70 kilometers on one charge in fully electric mode, which makes it an ideal choice for everyday trips without emissions. At the same time, the hybrid powertrain allows you to travel more than 800 km in combined mode, using both electric traction and a gasoline engine.
The updated XC90 is not only about technology. Its legendary comfort has become even better thanks to an improved suspension and adaptive shock absorbers that adjust to road conditions. Air suspension is available as an option, improving handling and comfort by allowing the car to adjust the ride height to suit the conditions.
The XC90 also remains one of the safest cars on the road, with advanced active safety systems such as Oncoming Lane Warning, Pedestrian and Animal Collision Assist, and automatic braking to help prevent accidents.
The XC90 has also seen significant changes inside. The updated dashboard has a more horizontal design using recycled premium materials. There are new storage spaces in the cabin, including extra cupholders and a wireless phone charger. The XC90 can also be equipped with a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, which offers one of the best sound systems in the car industry.
“The next generation of the user interface will significantly improve the user experience and is an important step towards introducing people-centric technology,” said Erik Severinsson, Volvo Cars’ chief product officer.
The biggest focus is on the redesigned content screen. The home screen will now display the most popular apps and features, such as maps, music and phone, as is done in our new electric vehicles. This reduces the number of steps to access the features you need. For example, you can control your music without leaving the Google Maps navigation app.
We have also added a context bar that changes the apps displayed depending on the situation, showing the most frequently used features. For example, when driving at low speeds, an icon for external cameras will appear to help you park.

Volvo Cars is releasing the world's first electric vehicle battery data sheet, which will document the origin of raw materials, components, recycled materials and carbon footprint, for its flagship EX90 SUV, which is about to go into production, the Swedish carmaker has announced.
The passport was developed by Volvo in partnership with British startup Circulor. It uses blockchain technology to map supply chains for companies and took more than five years to develop.
From February 2027, battery data sheets will be mandatory for electric vehicles sold in the European Union, showing the composition of the batteries, including the origin of key materials, their carbon footprint and recycled content.
Production of the EX90 SUV with a battery data sheet will begin soon at Volvo's Charleston, South Carolina plant. The model will be delivered to customers in Europe and North America from the second half of the year.
Volvo owners can access a simplified version of the passport using a QR code on the inside of the driver's door. In the future, the passport will gradually be extended to all Volvo electric vehicles.
It will also include up-to-date information on the health of the EV battery, vital to estimating the value of a used EV, for 15 years, and will cost about $10 per vehicle.
Volvo and Aurora presented the first self-propelled truck for mass production
Volvo and Aurora unveiled the initial autonomous truck designed for large-scale production.
Volvo has revealed the development of the first autonomous truck, with plans for it to be produced in large quantities following successful trials on public roads. The collaboration with Aurora self-driving car startup resulted in the development of the truck, which is Volvo's initial model on their standardized global autonomous platform.
The latest drone model is built using the Volvo VNL Class 8 as its base, specifically crafted for transporting goods over long distances. The truck has various sensors and cameras that interact with the Aurora Level 4 control system, enabling it to be driven autonomously.
Nils Jaeger, president of Volvo Autonomous Driving Solutions, highlighted that this truck will serve as the foundation for advancing autonomous technology in all Volvo Group truck brands and other areas of use.
Trucks in North America are categorized into three groups and eight levels according to their gross vehicle weight, as determined by the Commercial Vehicle Classification Standards. Around 10% of the market is represented by Class 8 heavy-duty trucks, with Volvo having demonstrated its technology on them by traveling over 2.4 million kilometers on public roads.
Aurora aims to introduce 20 fully self-driving trucks this year and expects to raise that figure to around 100 by 2025, at which point they will offer them for sale to other companies. The company is currently collaborating with German auto supplier Continental on a major deployment of self-driving trucks, scheduled for 2027.
