Auto experts have found out which cars are being discontinued forever.
In 2024, a number of models will leave the market forever. Manufacturers affected by the global economic crisis are stopping production lines, closing promising projects and reducing their product range.
In addition to the sanctions imposed against Russia, strict environmental standards also played a role. The American models Dodge Challenger, Charger and Chrysler 300C did not fall under their stricter requirements. Although the latter has been transformed into an electric vehicle, Dodge's muscle cars look set to become a thing of the past. In Russia, both brands disappeared even earlier: in recent years, cars of American brands were imported unofficially and in small quantities. Now this will not happen at all. The same fate befell the Jeep Cherokee and Renegade.
European manufacturers are also facing the consequences of their anti-Russian sanctions: production is being frozen and the model range is being reduced. You can forget about the popular Volkswagen Passat and VW Golf, although why they were included in this list is not clear. Passat recently changed generations and lost one body type, but Golf continues to delight fans. Of course, they will have electric successors in the near future.
The crisis has not spared even premium brands: Mercedes-Benz CLS, Audi TT and the sporty Audi R8 have already officially been discontinued.
Korean automakers, which supported the sanctions and the ban on supplies to Russia, also suffered. Production volumes have decreased and several models are ready to become history. This applies to the Kia Rio and the Kia Stinger fastback. In Russia, Rio has already been reborn under the Solaris brand, and Stinger was not particularly popular.
