BMW has introduced the updated BMW X5 and X6 crossovers. Cars of the 2024 model year received a slightly modified appearance and a new inline-six turbocharged engine.
Externally, the BMW X5 and X6 of the 2024 model year are distinguished by the "stuffing" of headlights and lanterns and updated front bumpers, and in their interior, a curved display panel consisting of a 12.3-inch digital "dashboard" and a 14.9-inch media complex screen appeared in the Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupe trim levels. In addition, BMW abandoned a large number of buttons and switches in favor of touch controls.
The updated BMW X5 and X6 will be available for order with eight— and six-cylinder gasoline and six-cylinder inline diesel engines of the latest generation. All of them have the technology of a soft 48-volt hybrid with an output power of 12 hp and are aggregated with an eight-speed automatic transmission Steptronic Sport and an intelligent all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive. All-wheel drive remains standard for all trim levels, except for the basic BMW X5 sDrive40i with rear-wheel drive.
BMW has also updated the hybrid modification of the BMW X5, which is now called not xDrive45e, but xDrive50e. It is driven by a hybrid powerplant with an in-line gasoline "six" and a new electric motor with a total capacity of 490 hp, which is 96 hp more than the previous model. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h for BMW X5 xDrive45e takes 4.8 seconds, and the power reserve on "pure" electricity is from 94 to 110 km on the WLTP cycle.
