Toyota Supra GRMN will receive a 543-horsepower engine from BMW M4 CSL.
Rumors about a more powerful variant of the Toyota GR Supra have been circulating online for many years, but their stubborn persistence makes them a little more plausible. Recent reports from Japan are heating up rumors about the Supra GRMN, which could serve as a precursor to the demise of the current generation of the model before the iconic nameplate moves into the future of electric vehicles.
The common base between Toyota GR Supra and BMW Z4 means that the Japanese automaker can give the sports car more power, taking advantage of cooperation with the BMW M division. At the same time, Toyota could use the experience of the Gazoo Racing department in terms of refining the chassis.
The novelty would perfectly suit a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with dual turbocharging from the hardcore BMW M4 CSL, which develops 543 hp of power and 650 Nm of torque. This power, combined with a stiffer and lower suspension, bigger brakes, sharper steering and reduced weight, will probably lead to the creation of the fastest production Supra to date.
Such a powerful sports car is likely to receive a redesigned body kit that improves both the appearance and aerodynamic characteristics of the GR Supra.
The Japanese Best Car Web reports that the GRMN Supra may debut in the fall of 2023, although a few years ago the same publication talked about a debut in 2020. Note that the current, fifth-generation Toyota Supra was originally introduced in 2019 and is said to last until 2025, before an all-electric successor appears in 2026.
