Audi to end production of Q8 e-tron SUV
Audi to end production of Q8 e-tron SUV in February 2025.
Audi is officially ending production of its premium electric Q8 e-tron in February 2025. The iconic car, which began life as the Audi e-tron in 2018, was the brand’s first all-electric SUV. Despite a refresh in 2022 and a name change, the model has become outdated in the face of new offerings like the Q6 e-tron.
The Q8 e-tron was built exclusively at the Brussels plant, where around 50,000 cars were built last year. However, declining demand, particularly in China, and high production costs have forced Audi to close the plant.
The company is considering launching a successor to the model in 2026, but this time at a new plant in Mexico. Meanwhile, the fate of the 3,000 employees at the Brussels plant remains in question, although no layoffs are planned until the end of 2024.
The Q8 e-tron will always remain an important chapter in Audi's history, but the market and innovations require new solutions.
Electric Q8 e-tron SUV
Audi has announced that it will end production of its electric Q8 e-tron SUV by February 28, 2025. The decision aligns with the planned closure of the Brussels plant where the vehicle is manufactured. Audi cites declining production volumes and the challenges of competing in the electric vehicle (EV) market as key factors behind this move.
The plant, employing about 3,000 workers, is being considered for sale. However, efforts to find a buyer for the facility have so far been unsuccessful. Unions and workers have protested the decision, arguing that alternative solutions could prevent job losses. Despite this, Audi plans to focus on restructuring and aligning with parent company Volkswagen's cost-cutting initiatives to remain competitive against rising EV market pressures, particularly from Chinese automakers.
Audi intends to deprive its cars of rings in the emblem
Audi intends to deprive its cars of rings in the emblem.
A new line of electric cars from Audi for the Chinese market will be produced without the legendary logo.
Audi, in cooperation with SAIC, presented a new line of electric cars created specifically for the Chinese market. An interesting feature of the new models will be the absence of the traditional Audi logo with four rings, which, according to sources, is due to the desire to adapt the brand image to local conditions.
It is expected that a full presentation of the new Audi models will take place in November, when the company promises to reveal all the details of the brand history for this project. The joint work of Audi and SAIC included the development of a platform for electric vehicles, which allows taking into account technological innovations and consumer preferences in China.
Audi sales in China in the first half of 2024 amounted to less than 10 thousand electric vehicles, which is significantly less than local competitors Nio and Zeekr. The new series will use CATL batteries and a driver assistance system from Momenta.
The vehicles in this series are built on SAIC's IM Motors electric architecture and are presented as part of the "Purple" series. While the new models will be badged with a modified logo, Audi's current electric vehicles in the Chinese market, such as the Q4 e-tron and Q5 e-tron developed with FAW and SAIC, as well as the upcoming Q6 e-tron, will retain the classic four-ring logo.

Audi RS 4 Avant has become more powerful and faster. The five-door version of the 25 years edition will be produced in quantities of 250 units. In honor of the 25th anniversary of the RS 4, Audi has released a special version of the model called the RS 4 Avant edition 25 years. The anniversary station wagon is painted in Imola Yellow and thus resembles the Audi RS4 Sport, the first model of the quattro GmbH division (now Audi Sport GmbH), produced from 1999 to 2001. Under the hood of the new product is a V6 2.9 biturbo engine. Its power has been increased by 20 horsepower (470 hp), although the smoking torque is still 600 Nm. The RS 4 Avant edition 25 years accelerates to one hundred in 3.7 seconds - 0.4 seconds faster than the regular RS 4 Avant.
The five-door is equipped with ceramic brakes, a sports exhaust system and RS sport suspension pro coilovers with manual adjustments. The suspension is lowered by 10 millimeters compared to a regular station wagon, but can be made even lower if desired. At the same time, there is a quattro sport differential and stiffer steering rods; The gearbox software has been updated for faster shifts and the negative camber on the front axle has been increased. The wheels are forged, 20 inches in diameter from the RS 4 Avant competition. Tires: Pirelli P Zero Corsa.
Buyers of the RS 4 Avant edition 25 years are entitled to Alpinestars gloves and a second set of wheels with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slicks and the Track Adrenaline telemetry system, which collects data in real time on the condition of the tires, lap times, analyzes all this and gives recommendations on how to achieve optimal results. In addition to Imola Yellow, the station wagon is available in Nardo Gray and Mythos Black enamels. As standard, the car comes with tinted rear doors, glossy black trim, darkened logos and a Carbon matte styling package.
The interior features bucket seats, RS4 Sport-style trim and a plate indicating the car's serial number (250 units will be produced in total). A new design theme has been proposed for the digital instrument cluster - with a white tachometer and speedometer, like on the 1994 Audi Avant RS2. Additionally, you can buy a steering wheel cut off at the bottom and an exclusive Chronograph RS 4 Avant edition 25 years watch. Sales of the anniversary station wagon will begin in June.
