The new 3.6-liter torque Pentastar V6 engine for RAM cars is presented.
RAM has announced that some Ram 1500 models sold in Europe will soon be offered with the new 3.6-liter eTorque Pentastar V6 engine.
This new transmission brings the brand's 3.6-liter torque Pentastar into the modern era, replacing the generator with an innovative eTorque soft hybrid system. The power unit can also use a 3 kW DC converter to operate a 12 volt starter, which is especially useful for cold start at low temperatures.
The eTorque Pentastar V6 engine is equipped with a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system and has a compression ratio of 11.3:1. There is an energy recovery system, and EPA data show that the new engine consumes 19% less fuel than the 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine of this automaker. The new engine develops a power of 305 hp and 364 Nm of torque.
RAM will offer this hybrid system in the 1500 Big Horn, 1500 Laramie and 1500 Rebel models. Of the three models that have received this transmission, RAM notes that the 1500 Rebel is best suited for those who want to go off-road, thanks to the suspension, descent control system and Goodyear Wrangler Duratec all-terrain tires.
The Ram 1500 Laramie combines "best-in-class performance, payload, luxury and technology" and comes standard with features such as a 12-inch touchscreen, remote car start, advanced braking assistance system and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping function.
The 1500 Big Horn differs from the other two with chrome bumpers, available Sport and Black Appearance packages, standard 18-inch aluminum wheels and an 8.4-inch infotainment display.
