Volkswagen Tiguan may have a fully electric version
Volkswagen may release an electric analogue of the Tiguan crossover in 2026
Entering the "electric" era, Volkswagen wants to keep the Tiguan name and release a new electric crossover under it in 2026. According to the German newspaper Handelsblatt, technically it will be a completely different model that has nothing in common with the usual Tiguan.
The supposed name of the battery–powered "Tiguan" is ID.Tiguan, that is, theoretically, it can become part of the already formed ID family, which already includes crossovers, hatchbacks, and even station wagons.
Such a crossover should be based on the new modular platform MEB-Plus, created by Volkswagen specifically for electric vehicles. And although there are no specifics about it yet, it is quite obvious that it will support different types of batteries and electric power plants (single-engine, twin-engine, etc.).
In the meantime, a standard Volkswagen Tiguan of the next generation is being prepared for the premiere. His prototypes were repeatedly "caught" on road tests, so it's not long before the official public debut.
