Chery announced the teaser debut of the new sedan Emgrand L HiP Champion Edition PHEV .
Geely is preparing to launch the Emgrand L Hi-P Champion Edition sedan with a plug-in hybrid powerplant. It will be able to travel up to 100 km on a single battery charge in purely electric mode. In addition, it will support fast charging with constant current. The Emgrand L Hi-P Champion Edition will be on the market this month, and it is intended for taxi companies.
Recall that Geely had some reputation issues after launching the previous version of Geely Emgrand L Hi-P. According to various taxi drivers, this vehicle could not travel up to 100 km without recharging. Moreover, its fuel consumption was much higher than the estimated amount of 3.8 liters/100 km. As a result, Geely silently suspended production of the previous model and began working on its improvement.
In fact, after entering the market, it will be the only Emgrand L on sale. But why did Geely add the Champion Edition name to the Emgrand L Hi-P? It is curious that they took as a basis the name of the models BYD Champion Edition. So it looks like Geely wants to emphasize that its PHEV technology is ready to compete with BYD's best-selling products.
Speaking of the exterior design of the Emgrand L Hi-P Champion Edition, it was presented in teaser images. But earlier, the Chinese government also unveiled the exterior design and technical specifications. Emgrand L Hi-P Champion Edition received a new design of the front part with a closed radiator grille. On the contrary, the previous model had a large X-shaped radiator grille. It seems that this grille will be able to reduce drag and, as a result, increase the purely electric power reserve. In addition, there are some minor external changes, such as exhaust pipes.
If we talk about the technical part of the Emgrand L Hi-P Champion Edition, then the novelty is based on the BMA architecture underlying many Geely models. Its dimensions are 4735/1815/1495 mm with a wheelbase of 2700 mm. The Emgrand L Hi-P Champion Edition power unit includes a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an internal combustion engine with a capacity of 181 hp. It is paired with an electric motor with a capacity of 136 hp. They are assisted by a 3-speed hybrid transmission DHT Pro. Its total output power reaches 246 horses and 610 Nm. The power reserve of the Emgrand Hi-P Champion Edition on electric traction reaches 100 km. As for the mixed indicators, it is 1300 km.
