PepsiCo will release 100 Tesla semi-finished products in 2023
NEW YORK /SAN FRANCISCO, Dec 16 (Reuters) - PepsiCo plans to release 100 heavy-duty Tesla semi-trailers in 2023, when it will start using electric trucks to deliver to customers such as Walmart and Kroger, a senior representative of the soda maker's fleet told Reuters on Friday.
PepsiCo Inc (PEP.O), which ordered large trucks in 2017, is buying them "directly" and is also upgrading its plants, including installing four 750-kilowatt Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) charging kiosks in both Modesto and Sacramento in California, PepsiCo vice president Mike O'Connell said in an interview. A $15.4 million state grant and a $40,000 federal subsidy for the vehicle help partially offset the costs.
"It's a great starting point for electrification," said O'Connell, who oversees the company's fleet.
"Like any early technology, incentives help us develop the program," he said, adding that there were "a lot" of development and infrastructure costs.

Mercedes E-Class 2024 Shows Off More Leather and Interior in New Spy Shots
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been spotted in the wild again, this time in significantly less camouflage than when we last checked in a year ago. As an added bonus, our spy managed to take a couple of shots of the interior of the new E, and while it's still mostly lit up, we can get a pretty good idea of what to expect from the next (and probably final) E-Class with an internal combustion engine.
Even taking into account the interior trim, it is obvious that the ICE-powered E-class and the new EQE all-electric sedan will have very little in common, except that they will be about the same size. The clear dashboard panel of the EQE is nowhere to be found in the prototype E-Class, which repeats the design of the central contour of the current car, albeit with a completely different dashboard layout; please note that the air vents of the climate control are hidden somewhere behind all this felt, and are not located noticeably under the infotainment screen, as in the previous model.
From the outside, we can see that the design will not change much compared to what we are used to. Since the E-Class is likely to be marketed to traditionalists who are not interested in EQE, we would argue that conservative design updates were a deliberate choice. Mercedes plans to offer an exclusively electric range by 2030, so the next E-class should at least live a full life before it is released to pasture. SOLIHULL, England, November 21 (Reuters) - Chinese manufacturers of electric vehicles (EV) aimed to win over European drivers and large corporate customers with more affordable cars with high safety indicators and a variety of high-tech functions.
Over the past few months, several Chinese electric vehicles have received five-star ratings from the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) - an achievement requiring vehicles to be equipped with active and passive safety features that go far beyond the legal requirements. Presumably, the battery capacity will be 120 kWh, but the estimated power reserve is close to 500 miles, which would be exceptional for an electric SUV, even a very aerodynamic one. The latest Model S, which Tesla claims has a drag coefficient of just 0.208 Cd, can only travel 405 miles at 100 kWh, so AEHRA will have to apply some sophisticated efficiency measures to increase the power reserve by 25% due to a 20% larger battery in the SUV. The company mentioned a drag coefficient of 0.21 Cd, but considering that it is no better than the Tesla Model S, aerodynamics alone will not be enough.
