A compact 2012 Skoda Citigo with a 280-horsepower engine is up for sale. The smallest model of the Czech automaker after modifications is estimated at 2,550 pounds sterling (approximately 320 thousand rubles). The experimental hatchback was prepared by tuners from the Darkside Developments studio. As part of numerous modifications, engineers equipped the three-door with a new suspension, an all-wheel drive system, and a lightweight body. At the same time, the developers do not report the dynamic characteristics.

Instead of a standard liter engine, a two-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 280 horsepower was installed under the hood of the Skoda Citigo. The design of the unit includes a modified cylinder head, other shafts and a large cooling radiator. The unit is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. In addition, the hatchback is equipped with an all-wheel drive system from one of the Volkswagen models, Porsche brake calipers and 17-inch wheels from the Skoda Octavia. The Citigo interior now has two racing bucket seats with multi-point belts, a sports steering wheel and a custom center console. A metal safety frame is installed in the rear of the car. The creators of the modified model did not disclose the dynamic characteristics, but noted that the car with a mileage of about nine thousand kilometers is prohibited from driving on public roads due to the lack of certification.

A 2012 Škoda Citigo

A 2012 Škoda Citigo with a 280-horsepower engine would likely be a heavily modified version of the original car. The stock Citigo, part of the Volkswagen Group's city car lineup, originally came with a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder engine producing 59 or 74 horsepower, depending on the variant.
The upgrade to 280 horsepower could involve substantial changes, such as:
Engine Swap or Modification: The original engine would need to be replaced or extensively modified, potentially with a turbocharged or supercharged unit. This might involve installing a performance engine from another Volkswagen Group model, like the Golf GTI or Polo GTI.
Transmission Upgrade: Handling 280 horsepower would require a stronger gearbox and drivetrain components. Suspension and Brakes: Modifications to improve handling and stopping power would include upgraded suspension, larger brakes, and possibly reinforced chassis components.
Aerodynamics and Tires: Wider tires and bodywork adjustments might be necessary for better traction and stability.
Such modifications are popular among car enthusiasts looking to create sleeper cars—vehicles that look ordinary but deliver extraordinary performance. If you're referencing a specific project, more details about the build would be interesting!

The new Skoda Elroq crossover has been unveiled

Another Simply Clever from Skoda: you can talk, transport a whole fridge and not pollute the air around you. Skoda has unveiled the new Elroq electric crossover, which is positioned as “the most affordable in its segment given the battery size and equipment.” In the UK, its starting price is about 2,945,400 rubles (£31,500), and in continental Europe - about 3,088,800 rubles (€33,000).
The Elroq's exterior is designed in the Modern Solid style with a new "Tech-Deck Face" grille that hides sensors and a camera. Instead of the usual badge on the bonnet, there are letters, which is a novelty for Skoda models. In addition to the unique design, the Elroq received separate headlights, a contoured bonnet and active vents for cooling. The aerodynamic drag coefficient is only 0.26, and the wheels can be from 19 to 21 inches in size. The crossover is 4,488 mm long, 1,884 mm wide and 1,625 mm high, and the wheelbase is 2,765 mm, which makes it 98 mm longer than the Karoq.
In the Elroq interior, minimalism is combined with modern technologies. A 13-inch multimedia system screen and augmented reality for the head-up display are installed. The built-in voice assistant supports integration with ChatGPT, which allows you to not only control the car's systems, but also ask general questions.
The model will be available with three batteries. The base version of the Elroq 50 is equipped with a 55 kWh battery and an electric motor with a capacity of 170 hp, providing a range of up to 375 km according to WLTP. The Elroq 60 version with a 63 kWh battery will be able to travel up to 400 km, while the top-of-the-range Elroq 85 with an 82 kWh battery will be able to travel up to 581 km.
Being a Skoda, the crossover has a number of “simply clever” details. These include an umbrella on the door, a storage box and an ice scraper with a tire tread depth gauge. Although these are mostly unnecessary details, everyone can appreciate the largest boot in its class. It holds 470 liters of luggage, but this can be increased to 1,580 liters by folding the rear seats. Skoda also confirmed plans for the Elroq 85x, which features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. However, the company had nothing more to say about it at the moment.
