The new Volvo EX30 electric crossover debuted in the Middle Kingdom. It will go on sale on the Chinese market at a price of 200,800 to 255,800 yuan, or 27757.81 to 35360.79 dollars at the current exchange rate.
The Volvo EX30 is a compact electric city crossover built on the SEA platform. Its front end is reminiscent of the Volvo EX90 with T-shaped headlights and a closed grille. At the rear, in the lower right corner, you can see the inscription “Volvo Asia Pacific” (沃尔沃亚太), which indicates that this car is made in China.
The new Volvo EX30 is the brand's most compact crossover. Its body length is 4233 mm, width is 1838 mm, and height is 1555 mm with a wheelbase of 2650 mm. The crossover is equipped with original five-spoke wheels.
Inside the crossover there is a digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch infotainment system screen, a three-spoke multi-steering wheel and a so-called Harman Kardon “sound panel” 1.2 meters long. According to the manufacturer, the interior uses environmentally friendly and recycled materials, including flax fiber and recycled plastics.
In China, the Volvo EX30 has four versions. At the base, the crossover is equipped with an electric motor mounted on the rear axle with a power of 200 kW (272 hp) and 343 Nm of maximum torque, as well as a 49 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery.
The long-range, rear-wheel drive version has the same 272-horsepower single-motor setup as the base model, but is powered by a triple 66 kWh lithium battery. An all-wheel drive high-performance version will also be available with an electric powertrain producing 315 kW (428 hp) and 543 Nm of maximum torque, powered by a triple 66 kWh battery. The crossover's maximum speed is limited to 180 km/h, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h for a top-end car takes just 3.6 seconds.
