Heavy-duty Ford

The latest heavy-duty Ford model 2023

2023 heavy-duty Ford is the heaviest truck in the Ford lineup and it has received a very thorough update, actually something in between an update and a redesign, I think depending on how you think Ford calls it the new generation, although it has quite a lot in common with the previous model, the first of the changes is obviously redesigned aesthetics, so we have with-shaped LED accent strip in most models, but not in all multimodule LED headlights in this top-end finish. It's a platinum model, so we get all the accents, etc., that you might expect from a big expensive truck. Multi-module little elements here in the radiator grille, a lot of chrome metal bumper painted in body color, and then we have parking sensors in front with LED fog lights. If you're wondering what the base model looks like, here's the base 450. We don't have an LED accent strip, we do have very large halogen headlights, but there are many of the same design elements a large radiator grille, and then you can see that we pay homage to the LED accent strip with a gray shade inside the headlight module, large headlights, a lot of chrome, as you would expect from this model, this one still has tow hooks, but it doesn't have front parking sensors quite.

Specifications

Unfortunately Ford hasn't published the engine specifications yet and that's a pity because this is the biggest news for the new super duty in addition to the 7.3 liter V8 that we had last year, there's a new base engine it's a 6.8liter gasoline V8 based on the 7.3 liter engine they basically just adjusted the stroke of the pistons, then we have two diesel engines with some pretty significant changes between them. There's the standard power, and then there's the high-performance version.
The high-performance version, they claim, will be the most powerful in this class. We don't have official numbers, they're probably waiting for RAM and Chevy to publish their numbers, but expect somewhere around a thousand pound-feet of torque and probably over 400 horsepower from the most powerful version. diesel engine. Also big news all engines will be coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission, so no more six-speed gears, everything is running at 10 speeds, and the power take-off system will be standard, returning to the style for a moment, as you would expect, there have been some minor changes around the truck, but it is still instantly recognizable. as a heavy-duty new vents right there on the side, new wheels, new tires, etc.
We still have the expanding rear view mirrors, and then we still have this very distinctive line with the window back, the same cabin layout as before, so you can still get a standard Camp Super Duty or you could get a bigger cabin, of course, if you want but none of the cabins will be as big as the largest cabin available in ram, keep in mind, however, that the ramps cabins are getting a little old and this one has a much more modern design, so even though RAM has a big cabin, I of course we have an eight-foot bed like you expected it, but what you may not expect is some changes in terms of carrying and loading your cargo. We have an electric tailgate, which we didn't have before, so if you are interested in turning on, raise and lower the tailgate now it can be done on trucks weighing three quarters of a ton and one ton this is a really handy feature if you often tow a caterpillar or fifth wheel something like that and if you do it, we have some new sensors here, we also have parking sensors built into the top of the tailgate, designed not so that you can feel the sky falling, but in order to, so that you can lower the tailgate and make sure it doesn't crunch when you reverse up to the loading dock or your trailer. so you can really see where you're reversing when the tailgate is down, because the regular camera on the tailgate that's still right there next to that handle, then we have a different view so we can see your hitch from top to bottom to improve alignment. and we have autonomous steering so that the car can really guide you back to your trailer and make sure the hitch and the ball are aligned.
Some really cool features for the trailer we have a few extra steps here because the beds are getting bigger and bigger with each generation, and these are not the only steps, there is another one here at the front of the bed to help you get back into that bed, and also we of course have the same camera modules on the back of the bed. cabs, on which we also see the fifth wheel at the back. We'll step into the Platinum cabin to take a quick look at that top trim so you can see what's going on. The changes are not extreme, it's very similar to what we find in the F-150. while you won't find the huge screen that's available in the F-150 Lightning, instead we have a roughly 12-inch touchscreen right here in the middle, there's still a pro trailer assist backup button, buttons on top for things like the exhaust brake, etc. Lots of physical buttons and controls that many people will like similar all-wheel drive controls here on this side note for automatic mode you will notice that here we have controls for dual-zone automatic climate control, heated ventilated seats, etc. The socket of the built-in inverter there we now have the presence of a two-kilowatt on-board inverter, which is a really wonderful feature. The passenger has the same double glove compartment that we find in the F-150, and then here, on this side, we have a full-color large liquid crystal instrument cluster, as well as a heads up display. We have the newest Ford truck the steering wheel controls adaptive cruise control but there is no blue crew system in this truck at least at the moment here we have controls for the information entertainment system one thing that surprised me is that despite the fact that we have a speaker switch, we do not find a work surface available here that we find in the F-150, instead we have a more traditional arrangement of cup holders, followed by a padded armrest that opens to reveal storage space on the center console.
As for the design of the seats, they are very similar to the F-150, which is as you would expect, so in the top models you even get this ratchet in the shoulder part, very adjustable four-position headrests, quite comfortable seats and definitely better seat comfort than currently in the Ram heavy duty line, as well there's a little more headroom at the back, so if I lean my head back on the headrest, I'll have about half an inch of free space left, if I sit in a more natural position, it could be about three-quarters of an inch, but this model has a large panoramic roof in the shape of the moon, which is not available in heavy Ram trucks.
Of course, heavy trucks are designed for towing. We don't have official specs yet, but Ford has said it will be a best-in-class payload, so expect over four thousand pounds of payload in a ton of different configurations and of course even more, depending on the F350 or F-450 configuration you get. We still have the F450 50 as a model other than the 350, which is quite an interesting twist in the Ford lineup, it's the max tow version, basically a single-color super duty format, the version with the maximum payload will be the F-350, and in the Silverado lineup and ram lineup they just combine them into the 3500s years, obviously, it's an F450 that's pretty cool in this format because you can still get it with a long body and a standard cab with a wider track at the front and double seats at the back I have to say it's a really cool truck but anyway back to the feature set one of the interesting things I noticed in the previous generation of Ford's heavy duty lineup is the fact that they didn't have load cells in the suspension, like the F-150, well, they fixed it, now we have built-in scales, so, if you are planning to tow a lot of weight or if you are really doing the work with the maximum payload into your truck now you can have load cells to make sure you are within the permissible payload for your particular truck again there are no specific towing capacity figures but you can count on more than 30,000 pounds of towing capacity probably more 37 pounds of towing capacity to be absolutely honest in the maximum towing version, which again will be the F450, is also pretty cool, examples of which we don't have here are that we will have new blind spot systems and 360-degree cameras available for trailers. That's what happens in a regular heavy-duty truck, you'll have sensors, right at the back, in the light of the taillights modules, but it is obvious that if you tow something so big and wide, these sensors will not be able to see further than the trailer, so instead of sensors mounted on the taillights, which we find in this Tremor model with a fifth wheel or a gooseneck trailer, a set of sensors will be used that is mounted on the trailer itself, you will buy an accessory at Ford, it will be integrated into your trailer and this will give you the opportunity to recognize blind spots on large trailer formats of course, these blind spot sensors still recognize the trailer, so if you have a regular trailer and it's a little narrower, than some of these big fifth wheels, then the system will automatically know that the trailer is there and it will feel in the blind spot it's just for those big trailers, big really expensive fifth wheel motorhomes and so on, that's where this system works to take effect, you will also find a new 360-a degree camera system for trailers, which seems pretty cool, which will work by a very similar process, so you install an accessory on your trailer, it integrates with the truck, and then the truck goes to show you a 360 degree view of the trailer in the information entertainment system when you try to park this big trailer in your favorite campsite if that's still not enough for you there are a lot of connected features that are enabled by the built-in 5G modem in super duty they will apply not only to ordinary consumers like you or me, who, perhaps, buy it for personal needs, as well as for enterprises that manage large fleets of F250s 350, of course, e-transit minibuses, ordinary transit vans, etc.
This system will allow things like trailer navigation, so if you have a vehicle trailer connected, it will tell you that you can drive this route with a trailer profile, if you have a large wide trailer, it may be a problem or a very long trailer and you are not sure if it will fit for the route you are traveling. The other thing is that it will allow there to be some fleet-related functions, obviously where my truck is, what it does at 3 a.m., but also I don't want my truck to start at 3 a.m., so you can actually, as a business owner, program things and say, I I don't want my truck to be running at this time of night, obviously you will also be able to tell how many miles from your fleet depends on what fuel economy you are getting alarm notifications, and later a perimeter camera system will be available, which apparently, It is an additional accessory, you can also install it on vans, so if the alarm goes off, you can see who is doing it. as for your work trucks, they have a lot of really interesting features connected to the internet, as well as a lot of opportunities for improvement Ford said they open up an API for an infotainment system so that outfitters can integrate their devices, such as bucket cart or crane controls, etc.
That's right, the infotainment system has a really cool handy feature for potential fleet customers, if you want to get your hands on a new super duty, contact your Ford dealer right now, because they will probably start taking orders very soon, and they should be put into production at the beginning of the 2023 calendar year. also, if you want to see one of them in person, go to the Texas State Fair, because they will be on display here and you will be able to take a look at them in person, see the changes, they even have a few F250s and f-350s of the previous generation, so you can see that Ford made it for the new one 2023 model year.
