Sales of the new LEVC L380 from Geely started in China
The LEVC L380, the new electric minivan (MPV) from Geely Group, is now available in China - the company has opened pre-orders with a refundable deposit of RMB 2,000 (approximately US$280). This 5.3-metre multi-purpose vehicle from the former British brand will hit the road this year and hit the UK market over the next two years.
LEVC stands for London Electric Vehicle Company. The company was formed on the basis of the famous British London Taxi Company, founded in 1919. The taxi maker was bought out by Geely in 2012 and has focused on producing electric vehicles (BEVs) and extended range vehicles (EREVs). By 2023, LEVC accounted for over 50% of all licensed taxis in London. The LEVC lineup includes a single vehicle called the TX. A second model, the L380, will soon hit the Chinese market.
Previously, LEVC launched mass production of the L380 at LEVC New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd plant in Zhejiang, China. LEVC TX taxis are also assembled at the same plant. During the official ceremony it was announced that the LEVC L380 will launch in the Chinese market this year and will be available for purchase in the UK within the next two years.
The LEVC L380 is a large minivan with a modern design. The front of the car has a short, elegant hood, LED strip and headlights integrated into the front bumper. Externally, it looks a bit like the Li Mega, but has a flat roof. Inside, the LEVC L380 has up to 8 seats in a 2+2+2+2 layout. The second and third rows feature independent captain's chairs.
LEVC L380 is built on a SOA platform based on the SEA architecture. Its dimensions are 5316/1998/1940 mm, and the wheelbase is 3185 mm. LEVC L380 will be available with three powertrain options:
200 kW electric motor, 170 km/h top speed, 100 kW/h NMC battery, 570 km range.
200 kW electric motor, 170 km/h top speed, 116 kW/h NMC battery, 675 km range.
Two electric motors with a power of 400 kW, a maximum speed of 180 km/h, a NMC battery with a capacity of 140 kW/h, a range of 785 km.
LEVC previously reported that the L380 will be able to charge 200 km in 10 minutes. It will take 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
