The updated 2025 Honda Civic will receive a hybrid version with 200 hp.
The updated Civic looks sportier than before, thanks to a new grille and air intakes in the bumper. In the 2025 model year, a hybrid powertrain option will appear with a total output of 200 hp.
Honda has introduced an updated version of the Civic in hatchback and sedan bodies, adding the option of a hybrid powertrain. The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid produces a combined output of 200 hp. and 315 Nm from two electric motors and a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. This makes it the most powerful version of the Civic currently available, excluding the Type R.
Honda hasn't revealed detailed specifications, but says the hybrid is faster than the previous 1.5-liter turbocharged model. At the same time, the new Civic Hybrid will be significantly more efficient, promising fuel economy of nearly 50 mpg. In addition, Honda engineers have optimized the hybrid's suspension through unique tuning of springs and shock absorbers.
The electrified model joins the Civic LX and Sport trims, which are powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 158 hp. and 187 Nm. Honda expects hybrids to account for nearly 40% of Civic sales. The 2025 Honda Civic lineup features a CVT, while the manual transmission-equipped Civic Si is not mentioned in the press release. We asked Honda about manual transmission options and received the following response: "No information on the 2025 Civic lineup yet."
Despite its instant recognition, the Civic took on a sportier look three years after the 11th generation debuted. The redesigned grille and air intakes on the bumper follow the design of the Civic RS prototype from the 2024 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trims feature body-color trim around the headlights and on the front splitter. Other visual updates include darkened taillights on the sedan, 18-inch machine-finish wheels on the Sport Touring Hybrid and four new exterior tints.
The interior is largely carried over with minor changes. These include a gray option exclusive to the hybrid, as well as the addition of USB-C ports across the lineup. More importantly, the flagship Sport Touring Hybrid trim features a larger 9-inch infotainment display that features Google built-in and is compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems.
The 2025 Honda Civic will arrive in dealerships this June, starting with the sedan, with the hatchback arriving later in the summer. Prices will be announced later.
